DIY Scrap Wood Christmas Decor

I loooove Christmas decor. It’s probably my favorite holiday to decorate for. And there are so many crafty ways to spruce up your home during the holidays! One of my favorite crafty things to do is work with scrap wood. I don’t have any fancy cutting tools, so I just use little wood blocks I buy at local craft stores, when I can find them. The blocks are so versatile leaving a lot of room for creative possibilities.
For a complete list of supplies for this project make sure you visit my blog from the link below! There, you can also find a link the the SVG file used for the quote block.
Once you have all your supplies gathered up, transfer the vinyl stencil to the block you are using for the quote. Make sure you either paint or stain the block first if you aren't wanting to leave it bare. I opted for a walnut stain on mine, but you can do it however you would like!
Next, use a spouncer brush to gently dab paint over the stencil. Make sure you don't 'swipe' the brush or you may end up with some bleeding! I had a little bit of that on mine (arg! Happens to us all at times huh...) so I had to do a bit of touching up once I pulled my stencil.
When the paint has dried you can peel up the stencil. You will also have to weed out all the little pieces in some of the letters as well! This is the stage you would want to do any touch ups, sand (I didn't for mine), or just leave it how it ends up and move on to the other 2 blocks!
To finish the other two blocks, I cut some Christmas paper to size and attached it to the fronts. I then took some coordinating glitter paper and put that on all sides of each block! Because, come on... glitter. It just makes everything better!
And that's it! It's such a super easy craft and can be incorporated into existing Christmas decor in all kinds of ways!
I can't wait to use these this year! I will have to experiment with styling them to see what I like the best.

Happy Holidays!
