You didn't say if you are ok with the colors but would just prefer the ceiling was a different color. If so, just paint the ceilings in both rooms. You only have to paint two ceilings instead of two rooms. Check for paint at Habitat for Humanity. They get a lot of donated paint which they sell inexpensively.

Habitat for Humanity is an excellent response....also, Home Depot and Lowe's both have "oops" paint for next to nothing.

Paint everything in white, then play with color accents of the things you already have. White paint is easy and cheap. And if later you want to change colors : it is easier to start from white than any other color.

You can always add some white paint to the color you are using to tone it down

HELP!! I am buying a home and the colors are yellow in all the rooms except the dining room which is red. Its an elegant red on the bottom but on the other half a bove its just red. Yuk. What should do? Also one room has blonde wood floors and I want to put wood in dining and living room. Do I have to match and if not what color should I use. thanks
