I know the thought of winter coming is not a pleasant one for a lot of people , me included but here in Canada we've already celebrated thanksgiving and have had a little taste of winter. So its time to think about decorating for the season. I love using old bicycle rims in my décor inside and out so when asked to make a wreath for a silent auction I knew what I was going to use.
First step was to spray paint my rim. I used brushed metallic nickel.
While waiting for the rim to dry I gathered the rest of my supplies. two boughs, a metal plaque, 2 cardinals, small piece of garland, and battery powered mini clear lights.
I cut the long stems off of the boughs, placing them at the top and using wire to attach them.
Using epoxy glue I attached the metal plaque. I used quick drying purchased from the dollar store.
I sprayed my piece of garland with some fake snow to match my boughs and attached it to the bottom of the rim, glued my two cardinals where I wanted them and added the mini lights into the boughs at the top. They are on a timer so will come on by themselves at night.
Voila ! My finished wreath.

    Very unique!!!

Have been looking for a wreath that isn't run of the mill to display for our Winter... which seems to get longer as the years pass. Thank you for posting your wreath and very well written how-to.

I love this idea! When I saw it, I thought it would be difficult to make! But not at all! I’m going to save the project. I happened to see this in May! I’ll start looking for bicycle rims now!
