Window seat bench. Vent in the way

I'm planning on making a window seat. However the issue I'm having is the heat vent is under the window. Any ideas how to still put the bench seat there without moving the vent?

I have seen vent covers that redirect the heat maybe you could find them at lowe`s.

@Jan Wilson That works fine...that is what I did, and it is cheap.

Check this link out. One of my all-time favorite bloggers had the same issue. Her solution should give you some ideas, or maybe even completely solve your problem. http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2012/06/we-have-a-window-seat/

You can leave the area open by putting in a bench type seating instead of a boxed in seat. Or you can get some duct and extend the heat to the far ends of the bench by installing in a Y configuration. We had cabinets built in where there was a vent and this is how it was handled. You can even go from a large opening into a smaller opening by reducing the shape of the ducts. Ours went from about 8x10 to about 2x12 and fit right under the cabinet. If you put in a 3' or so recessed "kick plate" much like kitchen cabinets have, you will never know it is there. Just frame in a false floor inside the storage area over the duct work.

Have like a lattice or a grill in the front to let the heat move through.

We had the same thing in one house and my husband built two benches on either side and the board across the top was 2" thick so it was well supported and did not bend. We were lucky in that the vent was right in the middle of the area. It actually helped with heating the living room as the heat was going more out toward the room than up toward the window above.

when the inlaws built a window bench/seat under a window that had a heat vent, they just extended the ductwork to the front of the new window seat, enclosing the whole area under the bench and using a nice wood vent cover for the new extended opening
