Wooden Spool Table Makeover

Hey friends! I'm here today to share a makeover I gave this wooden spool table that is on our back deck. This table was given to me for free by a friend of ours how worked for a local telephone company, and I just love the rustic vibe of the table, but it was time to protect it from the elements. It is way too heavy to move, and so it stays on the deck all year around. I knew I didn't want it to go through another winter without some protection, so I wanted to get this done in the Fall.
I first cleaned this table and then I stained it with WOCA exterior oil in grey. I have a full tutorial on the blog of the products I used and the steps I took from beginning to end.
Here is a picture of the funky spool tablespool before we treated it. It just kind of blended in with the wood of the rest of the deck. And this is how it looked when we first acquired it, it had aged even more since then.
After we cleaned the table, we let it dry for a few days and waited to make sure the weather forecast was good before we applied the exterior oil. The oil was really easy to work with, it was just like painting the table.
I'm really happy that we finished this before winter sets in. Now I can rest easy that my table will be protected from another harsh winter. And I know that when needed, I can repeat this process to preserve my table for a very long time. Read all about it on the blog!
