Thanksgiving is just around the corner and this easy to make turkey mirror is great last minute decor before friends and family come to visit. Remember last month how I took the Halloween mirror idea and spookified my front entry? This month, I decided to use the front entrance mirror again to welcome the next holiday in the fall season and so the turkey mirror idea was born (Ok, I’ve not seen this idea before consciously so I’m guessing this is the first one I’ve seen).

This was super easy to make with just a couple supplies... It only cost $12 in total because I was out of Kraft paper and bought the biggest roll, out of construction paper and bought the biggest pack, and was out of packaging tape... My crafting cupboards were bare!

I cut out the "body" of the turkey using Kraft paper and fit it to the mirror.

Next I cut out the turkey "head" parts and glued them together. You can get a template of the head, beak, gaggley thing, hat, buckle, band, and feathers at the bottom of the Turkey Mirror on my website. If you don't want to decorate a mirror with it, these could be used as an easy kraft for kids to make before or after Thanksgiving dinner.

I laid the head where I thought it would look good on the body and traced a spot to cut out so the mirror would show through. Then I taped the body to the mirror... It looks like a bagel to me. Happy Giant Bagel Thanksgiving? ha!

Now time to cut out a bunch of feathers. For this sized turkey it took about 32 feathers. Sounds like a lot but cut out 4 feathers per sheet of construction paper by stacking 4 pieces of paper. This way you will to be able to cut out 4 feathers at one time. Last step was taping it all to the mirror... Viola!

My kids and the neighborhood kids had so much fun looking in the mirror and being the "turkey"! For once, it's not me. hahaha! I think this could be fun for a Thanksgiving dinner with grownups too. Tip: Cut out extra leaves and have everyone write something they are thankful for to add to the turkey. Check out my blog post for templates for the turkey parts and have a very Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble gobble!
