Make Beautiful 3D Christmas Flower Wreaths Using Card Stock Paper

Easy
This was one of my favourite Christmas crafts to make with my students when I worked as an elementary classroom teacher. This was an activity I always planned to do during the week before the Christmas holiday break. We would spend almost an entire afternoon making 3D flowers and designing these beautiful wreaths. I always played Christmas music so we could hum or sing along while we worked.
I am out of the classroom now but I wanted to share this Christmas craft with you because it is a lot of fun to make at home with your children or grandchildren.
The first step is to make the wreath circle. I just traced the outer circle around a dinner plate. Then I measured 2 inches in at different points from the outer circle to create the inner circle. I then cut out the wreath shape and spray painted it gold.
I drew the flower, petal and leaf shapes myself when I designed this project. I then made a printable pattern for my students to use as tracers. I provide a PDF of this printable on my blog so you can use it too. The link to the blog is at the end of the project instructions.
You need to trace and cut out 4 large white flowers, 4 small white flowers, 8 red petals and four green leaves for each wreath. The red and white flowers were made from card stock paper and the green leaves were cut from glitter foam board.
Before putting the 3D flowers together, we rolled the ends of each flower and petal with a pencil crayon. A screwdriver also works very well.
Then we glued the flowers together. The image shows you how both 3D flowers were made.
The next step was to apply red glitter to the middle of the white 3D flowers and gold glitter to the middle of the red 3D flowers.
When the glue used to create the flowers was dry we glued them along with the green leaves onto the gold spray painted circle wreath shape. Some of the students glued them clustered together to the side and some preferred to glue them along the bottom.

Since this project is quite inexpensive it is fun to make several different ones to display for the Christmas season. It would make a great adult and child Christmas craft activity where you can put on some Christmas music and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate while you are crafting!
