These photos show last year's decorations I would like to do something different this year. Do you have any suggestions?

Put some greenery on the sign in a swag-like pattern, and red bows with burlap on the reindeer necks. Since it is outdoors, keep it rustic and think about adding some lights in the bigger tree. Have fun!

I would put white lights on the big tree for the focal point. The smaller areas maybe red lights. Paint a bright red nose on the reindeer and fill a planter with natural balsam branches mixed with berry branches and white branches with lights coming out of the planter.

GREAT JOB. It is so hard to come up with a new idea every year. Not knowing your budget, I will make some simple solutions! I tend to go for the white lights but I still love the greenery and red bows. I would use the white lights in the bushes like you did last year. But I would add a few small red bows on the bushes...they come on cards of about a dozen and have twisted wire for easy attachment. I agree, paint the noses of the reindeer bright red and add red glitter...a white glue painted on and then sprinkled with glitter! Add a red bow around their neck for color! Then make small "L" shaped swags with a nice red bow at each corner of the sign...wire on a few pine cones. You can add "snow" to the greenery by just dabbing on some white craft paint (the kind found in those small bottles at the craft store)...use a stiff brush and just brush it on lightly and dab it onto pine cones.

...asking for some qualification. Did you mean that you need/want to re-use the decorations from last year, or are you asking for suggestions going in an entirely different direction (and were just showing us last' year's look so we were not duplicative)? Thanks!

Get a star shower projector and the lights are done! Make a cute theme with gingerbread men and giant lollipops. I made my whole house a gingerbread house one year. I used heavy duty foil for cookie sheets and fun foam for candy dots etc. or go natural with a pinecone wreath, make stars from twigs, make burlap and red bows. I did that very thing to my tree one years. It is my second favorite tree we ever had. The first had ho trains chugging up the tree

I like the idea you have already, it needs a back drop like a lighted Christmas tree for height.

Thank You Connie! There is a tall dogwood behind all of it. Maybe i should buy more lights to accent it?

Wreath on the top of possible and flank the reindeer on both sides. I agree with planters maybe wood barrels and outline them with lights and fill them and the large tree yes a focal point can you change the flood lights on the sign to red?

It is beautiful, to change it up a bit, add color as big red bows on the sign posts, as well as red bows on the deer necks. maybe some white lights on the trees as well.

I see quite a few things I like. For the sign Add a strand or two of greens across the top and down the sides with Red bows at each corner, White lights on the Dogwood. It would be nice if both deer had their heads up; then you could tie them up from branches to be flying. I love making door wreaths and the greenery around the door/porch rails if you have them with bows on corners. The barest dusting of fake snow with a little glitter.

Why mess with perfection? I wouldn't change a thing! Maybe big bows on the reindeer!

You can cut wreath frame of a wreath so it's easy to hang around your reindeer neck. I've done it so I can hang a wreath behind the carriage lights on either side of our garage door. Just put the cut side down. I added some lights to the wreath last year and it looked super without running the carriage lights all night.

Make a couple of the wooden trees in this home talk, you can add them to your display.......battery operated tea lights, added with a drop of hot glue.....

Why not just re-design the conformation of the lights into a cross or magen David, or a tannenbaum (or some seasonal) shape and put those wreaths around the deers necks? Be a more thrifty way unless the materials are worn out. You could just do what you think is beautiful and don't concern yourself with what others think about your creations.

Have you thought of pengins?? We changed up from deer on our mantel to some penguins having fun on a snow blanket. Added small boxes to make slopes, etc. I think this idea would be adorable on a large scale for a yard or elsewhere. Just a thought for something different.

I saw something absolutely gorgeous that a Hometalker posted - they were beautiful gift boxes in re-claimed lumber with traditional holiday colours and tin bows with a distressed finish. You could add a few of those to your lovely décor. I also recommend a vintage looking sign whether it's peace, joy, blessings, believe or whatever inspires you and your family... There are also many talented Hometalk contributors with all kinds of Christmas tree ideas with re-claimed lumber. Best of luck with all your décor! Colleen from Canada :)

Is it possible to add height by stringing your lights in surrounding trees? Group your reindeer together and hang your wreath on your door. Maybe string your light in the shape of a tree with your deer under it?
