Using a grapevine wreath, some ribbon, and some "ugly" leftover Christmas balls, I made this bright and cheerful ornament wreath for my front door. I also found a way to repurpose my smaller artificial pine wreaths to match my new ornament wreath.
Ornament wreaths are a popular decoration for the Christmas season. But fitting all those ornaments together can be like working a jigsaw puzzle, and these wreaths can require a lot of ornaments to look full and colorful. I found a way to create an ornament wreath from a plain grapevine form that is easy to construct and needs a lot less ornaments. The resulting wreath is a festive and fun decoration for your holiday home.
I bought most of my supplies for my wreath last year at after-Christmas sales. Using a combination of sales and coupons for my local big box craft store, I made this wreath for about $15, including my wreath form and ribbon.

As I walked around my big box retailer with this container of Christmas balls, a woman stopped me and told me they were the ugliest Christmas balls she ever saw and I was going to have one weird looking Christmas tree! I agreed with her, but told her that I had other plans for these ornaments.
To make my ornament wreath, I prepared my grapevine form by wrapping it with twine, then starting gluing on my ornaments. Rather than try to fit my ornaments together perfectly, I filled in the spots in between my Christmas balls with pretty ribbon to brighten up my ugly ornaments.

You can find the full directions and step-by-step photos on my blog.
I also wanted to reuse these smaller pine wreaths that I put on my front windows during the holiday season, but I also wanted to be able to use them for other projects in the future. So I came up with a way to decorate these to match my bigger ornament wreath without gluing the ornaments in place. Check out my blog to see how I did it!

If someone really didn't want it that bright, could either lightly spray paint or spray snow when done.

That's a great idea! I think this type of wreath would look great with a little snow sprayed on. Thanks for sharing your suggestion!

I love the project and your end product but what I love more is that when approached in the store and spoken to rudely that you didn’t let it dull your shine and you just kept on going and did something awesome. Good for you!
