My favorite place to shop has been a local auction. I had been looking for a cabinet to place behind our sunroom door that would not take up more space than 10" deep by 37" wide. This cabinet was 9 1/2" by 35". PERFECT! My bid for $20 was accepted and this is what I brought home. It looks like it may have been used in a garage by the amount of stains on it. Yes, those are holes in the back from wall mounting. Note: I did not patch the holes.
Purchased kitchen cabinet from auction.
I removed only the handles and I gave the entire cabinet a quick sanding (note: please wear a dusk mask) and washed down with my favorite Mr. Clean with Gain in warm water. After it was dry I used the Wagner Power Sprayer to pain the entire cabinet in just 15 minutes (cleanup took just as long). I used almost the entire quart Behr's Interior Satin Enamel in Oarsman Blue. Color in the photo is actually bluer than the actual teal color.
I highly recommend using a power sprayer.
I purchased new handles for the cabinet doors only to find out that the holes did not match up and I didn't want to patch, fill, paint and drill, those were returned. So I painted the existing handles with Rust-oleum's Universal Metallic spray paint in Oil Rubbed Bronze which I already had sitting in my workshop. While everything was drying, I was dreaming how this would look under my wall hanging herb planter.
I have painted wood, plastic and metal with so many of Rust-oleum's products.
I am a faithful Rust-oleum user.
I can't say enough about Behr paint. I used to be only Benjamin Moore. But the competitive price keeps me coming back to Home Dept.
Love the paint and primer in one.
Here's the lid color that is more true that what is shown on the finished product. One day I'll get a real camera. I recommend satin for furniture and cabinets.
The finished project!
Still have lots more to put in.
