Maximizing Kitchen Storage Part I

It seems like no matter how big a kitchen is we still want and need more storage. In our old house, we gutted the kitchen and I designed a plan that really maximized our storage.
Then we moved and I ended up with a teeny tiny pantry, which meant some of my groceries have to go in the kitchen cabinets. Oy! So once again, I'm back to trying to maximize my storage space in creative, yet decorative ways.
Last week I came across these decorative nesting boxes. The antiqued brass handles just happen to match the new cup pulls on my black kitchen cabinets and red is the main accent color in the kitchen. So I snatched these bad boys and brought them home.
They're the perfect size to go on top of my fridge. Sitting next to the boxes are a couple of vintage picnic baskets which provide additional "hidden" storage. I filled them with vintage linens that were handed down from my grandmothers, a few small platters I use only on special occasions, and some cookbooks. If you found the right size of box or basket, I bet you could store a whole extra dinnerware set that you just use on holidays.

Great idea. My only question is why didn’t I think of this years ago?

Then you have to move that stuff every time you need to get into those cabinets.

Some of us are so short it doesn't really matter. Would need a step stool yo get to shelf anyway. Only stuff I really seldom need end up in the cabinet behind them. Just sayin!!!!!
