We wash it once every 3 months in the washing machine
I'm with Shui. If you have a cloth shower curtain with a liner, the cloth curtain doesn't really get dirty, so I would agree that once every 3 months is sufficient. The liner is easily replaced when that gets gunky. But I've washed plastic shower curtains in the washer too -- a little bleach in the water to get rid of the soap scum and/or mildew works wonders. Obviously, no dryer, just hang it back up to dry and it's good as new !
Cloth or plastic?
I have a fabric shower curtain and fabric "hotel style" shower curtain liners. In my guest bath that rarely gets used, I toss in the wash once every couple of months just to get rid of random dust and pet hair. In the master bath I wash both once a month, as the dogs get their baths in there occasionally and I have a couple dogs that like to sleep in there. In addition, I wash the bath mats once a week at least.
Now here is a tip. If you wash a BRAND NEW shower curtain or liner before hanging up, it is generally less likely to mildew.
Also use your exhaust fans, or in my case, I can have the bathroom windows open most of the year to keep the room aired out.
You are so welcome! Just passing on what others have taught me over my lifetime. And I did post!
