Beat-up Dresser to Stylish Changing Table

My friend had an old, beat-up dresser that she was getting ready to rummage or throw out. I said I'd take it and make it new again. I've seen fantastic dresser transformations but my favorites are the ones where the dresser becomes a bench with storage space. So I knew exactly what I was going to do with the old piece of furniture.

Eastlake Bedset Makeover

I have always wanted an old antique bedroom set and stay on the lookout for one that is affordable. My limit was $250 and I had been keeping my eye out on local swap shop sites and Craigslist. Low and behold I found the bed and a dresser for $200. The ads pictures looked like it was in decent shape and stated that it really did not need a lot of work just a few minor things. Not! When I went to pick it up my husband was a flat out “No”, this is just junk, it would require way to much money, time, and work to bring it back to original. I refused to leave it, I paid the lady as my husband turned red and looked about ready to leave me there with the bedset. We started loading and as we did pieces began to crack and break and I cringed inside hoping it wasn’t a wasted $200. I got it home and accessed the damage. I had to do a lot of reinforcements on the headboard because of its height. There was a lot of detail that had to be replicated with wood filler and trim. The footboard was cracked and the marble tops to the dresser were cracked. I started pricing what it was going to be to bring this back to original and decided that it was just not doable. I pondered on leaving it in storage until I had the time and money. I had come up with something else. My home is very rustic/Farmhouse so painting it would work. I know a lot of people cringe when they see old pieces painted but sometimes that is the only solution. So I began tediously repairing the bed and replacing the marble tops on the dresser with wood.

This floating corner desk was a project I recently built for a friend. It's my first project building a piece of furniture for someone else and it was a lot of fun! I'm starting to run out of places to put the stuff I build!My friend wanted a computer desk and had a vision for a corner desk. He asked me to build it for him and I said "Of course, I always need content for my blog and Hometalk!". From there we went back and forth and brain stormed a few ideas. Eventually we settled on a minimalist floating look. It's simple, but has a wood mosaic that keeps it from looking plain and boring.

Light Up Holiday Bag Art

Radiance DYI String Light Bag Art.Gather all your supplies. In my case I used a wood frame so I took out the glass and spray painted the frame black let it dry then used my color of choice (gray) to dry brush over and sand back in areas to give a shabby look (this is optional) While my frame finished drying I then took the glass out of the frame and laid the glass on the image of my choice (bag) to size the image. I then used the razor to cut the image along the side of the glass so this way I could ensure a perfect fit. After I got the size right I used the tape to tape the lights throughout the image. I highlighted the parts that stuck out to me. You will want to start at the end of the strand of lights closest to the battery back this way the battery pack will remain at the bottom of the frame so it can easily be hid once finished. Once the lights were all taped and I was satisfied with the image, I put the glass back into the frame and image with taped lights making sure battery pack is at bottom. It can now be enjoyed by everyone.

DIY Christmas Gnomes

Hi everybody! I know We aren’t even passed Halloween, but I whipped these fun little guys up last weekend and I just couldn’t wait to share! I am busy getting ready for the Thorndale Christmas Open House, so that means from now until December 4th, I am in full on Christmas mode!!!

Ornament Wreath

Hooray for more holiday treats! I am sure you have seen a good ornament wreath before, but why not make one exactly the size and colors that you want? This ornament wreath is not only super customizable, but super easy too! You only need some pool noodles (YES, POOL NOODLES), ornaments, loads of hot glue and dried greenery to create this beauty! Add some lights for a pretty glow and you are seriously set for a nice mantle piece.
