I read somewhere that Vick's vapo rub is a great cat deterrent, so I picked up a jar of generic vapor rub at the Dollar Tree to try with my 2 year old cat. I have a wooden entry table & the arm of a couch she liked to use as scratching posts (in addition to her actual scratching post), I've gone through various potted plants that she really 'dug' (& found delicious), & I have drapes next to the couch that she liked to stick her head into which causes a big gap of sunlight to fall right across the middle of the TV from sunrise to sunset & the street light takes the sun's place the rest of the time. I lightly sanded the entry table, then used a little bit of the rub on it where the scratches were, a little on the fabric under the couch arm, a dab on the window frame next to where she liked to stick her head in the drapes, & also got a new potted plant & rubbed some on the rim of the pot. I noticed results immediately! That was over a year ago. I now rub it onto the rim of any pot or vase of foliage I bring into the house & have had no more digging or eating of my plants, in addition to the other improvements!
