For anyone who hates their bathroom and knows how expensive bathroom renovations can be knows that DIY is the way to go (if you can). My bathroom renovation costs around $2,000 for materials but it increased the value of my home 5x! Renovating can be a DIY project if you have the right tools, attitude, and time.
I do not have too many before pictures to share because the bathroom when I first bought the house was ugly, gross, and dirty. I did paint it a while back but I do not have good pics but just imagine the vanity and the trim painted a medium blue, yellowed by cigarette smoke with a peel and stick floor which was stained with who knows what with a green center, and a shower with doors that no amount of cleaning or steaming got them clean.
I am enjoying my bathroom renovation now but the house is on the market. If you are thinking of selling your house you need to know that kitchens and bathrooms sell a house. My next house will be a fixer upper too and this time I will make sure to have before pictures to share with y'all.
Check out my blog for other projects I have done. Thanks for checking out my bathroom renovation and have a great day.
Replaced built in vanity with 2 separate vanities, new shower, new shower doors, new flooring, and new faucets
Before: sorry for the quality of the pic this was taken several years ago. The original vanity was ugly, old, and falling apart
Sorry for the horrible pic but this was 8 1/2 years ago and the you can see the original lines which dated the cabinets (and yes the previous owner had painted them blue along with the trim.
I had filled in the routered lines in the cabinets and drawers a few years back and painted the vanity an expresso brown until the day came I would gut and renovate the master bath. Updating the bathroom was a must to put the house on the market
The shower doors were rusty and and ugly and the shower itself was permanently stained from previos owner.
Dismantling a bathroom and tearing out can be a cost saving part of home renovations.
Trim came off and the peel and stick floor was in great shape for the new Pergo flooring (from The Home Depot). This floor is great and holds up to water and pets.
Pergo Flooring made for bathrooms and kitchens. Do not skimp on flooring in a bathroom. New wax ring for the toilet too. Floor goes in after the new shower went in
I spray painted all the accessories and light fixtures with Rustoleums Hammered Spray paint a few years ago and it has held up beautifully. No one knows the towel bars, toilet holder, and lights were not a set.
