A Touch of Christmas

I've always loved the chic Christmas decor but some come at a high price. I've been googling a lot and finally came across some Pinterest posts on how they decorated repurposed frames! I thought to myself oh my god I have two fairly large square frames laying around with no glass, they will be perfect! And so it began!...
Ok ignore the bedroom, but see those two square pictures on either side.. got them at a huge discount.. I wasn't too keen on the images but the frames were a good size. I took them apart only to find that there was no glass and that the glass looking plastic was attached to the print.. 😭 But I didn't have the heart to toss the frames away as I felt they had a good purpose.. so into the garage they went until their fate was decided..
This was one of the images that inspired my decor! I got really excited! But down side was.. my frames were silver..
So out came the chalk paint! Antique white. I had some left over from previous projects. I sanded down the frame just to give it tooth for the paint to really stick on there. I did about two coats.
Looked pretty good.. I went over in some parts very lightly with fine sand paper to create the distressed look. I was pretty nervous as it was my first time doing it..
I didn't want it too worn looking. ! But some bit nice.. I'm pretty happy how it turned out.. then once that was done I got my chalk paint soft wax. Annie Sloan soft clear wax was what i had at hand. I used an old cloth to apply. After first coat dried i went back over my distressed areas with the fine sand paper and then waxed once again.
I popped over to my local discount store and picked up a heart shape wreath with the Christmas look attached to it. Some white and silver ribbon and extra bits in case I wanted to add to it.. fairy lights were also attached (the battery operated ones)
After attaching everything I popped on a D hook at the back as there wasn't anything to hang from. Popped it onto my wall to see the basic look so far
The fairy lights really set off the Christmas feel to it. And best thing is. Once Christmas is over you can remove the cherries on it and red ribbon, attached white or silver ribbon and it's a basic home chic decor!
Really am loving it. And best thing is I have two frames so will be doing the same to the other frame and putting it on the other side of the family photo frame
