I have several nice wooden flip lid boxes that silver flatware used to be stored in. It has felt-lined sections for forks, spoons, knives, serving pieces, etc. As is, it doesn't really work for jewelry or anything else I can think of. Has anybody repurposed this kind of box?

Use it for a centre for storing your "sending" letters, i.e., stamps, return address labels, odd sized envelopes, a few cards. Even if most of your correspondence is by email, sometimes you should send snail mail.

It may work as a nice tool box for hand tools, such as screw drivers, pliers, box, or closed end, or crescent wrenches or similar items. Wooden tools boxes are nice, they stay dry and condensation doesn't build up to rust tools. And already being lined make for a nice surface for the tools to rest on.

I pull the dividers our very carefully to try not to tear cloth out or put holes in wood, you can take every thing out & replace cloth or sand & redo with stain or paint inside & use for any or every thing, sewing box, writing box, mic box, by front door to drop your keys in. All kinds of uses. I have all kinds & sizes. I use them for every thing. I love them. Good luck. I have painted a few & I didn'tlike them. I like the stain look.

You could separate the top from the bottom, hang then the long way on the wall and use like shadow boxes. I glued old keys in one side if mine and old coins in the other. I wanted something for the computer roon that didn't look feminine.

The cloth that lines these boxes is a special cloth which prevents sterling or silverplate from tarnishing. It could be used to store any smaller silver item. If you modify the box by taking out the cloth, use the cloth to protect larger silver items. Saves polishing. Rap your silver dollars with it. LOL.
