French Cottage Mantel

Every year I'm excited to dress my Christmas mantel. This year I was planning a neutral and simple mantel that had a French Cottage feel. I wanted everything to feel soft and coordinate with my space. Especially since being a blogger you have to start decorating around mid October for Christmas, I did not want this to feel too flashy since I have to live with it for more then the average Christmas season (not complaining).
My Family room is neutral and has the character of a small cottage space, so dressing that up more felt appropriate. Last year I had a red ski lodge feel and though I love that...neutrals tend to be more what I lean towards.
The best part was I did not break the bank with changing up my mantel for this year. I used what I had on hand which made it much easier to plan and save money. First I chose some dried seeded eucalyptus that I had from my Thanksgiving Table , and some dried artichokes that I added some gold glitter to also from my Thanksgiving table. I love that I was able to reuse. Followed that by some white lights that I had, and then my white stockings, some brass candlestick holders that I bought for $9 at a thrift shop, and lastly added my distressed terracotta pots to the end of each mantel. The pots were from my garden, and then I filled them with some mini faux Christmas trees that I've had for a few years.
Here's what's fun, I'll be sharing more details and a step by step tutorial how I dress my mantel tomorrow on Hometalk's facebook live. I'd love for you to meet me over there. I can't promise you that I won't drop a few things and talk with my hands...but it should be fun ; ) We'll see you there!
