Whether you're sentimental, low on ornaments or just low on cash, this DIY Charlie Brown Christmas Tree is sure to fill your home with cheer. This is also great for folks like me who aren't home for the holidays and don't want to put up a great, big tree but still want to hang a few special ornaments. Here's how to make your own:
You will need:

-Evergreen limb (I cut one off a pine in our yard!)

-Large tree pruners

-Handheld pruners

-Bud vase with narrow mouth

-Canister or jar with straight sides

-Marbles, smooth stones, gravel or play sand

-Strip of burlap or festive fabric

-Safety pins

-Ornaments (preferably lightweight ones)
Trim the base of your evergreen limb of any small limbs/protrusions so that it will fit in your bud vase. Fill vase halfway with water to keep your tree from drying out.
Place the vase in the center of a tall canister with straight sides. Stabilize vase by filling the space around it with gravel, play sand, marbles or smooth stones. OR, if you have neither of these items, pecans work great, too!
Wrap the canister with a strip of burlap and secure at the back with safety pins.
Decorate the tree with your favorite ornaments. Select lightweight ornaments in bright, cheerful colors.
