Furry Wreath Ornaments

Time for my favorite Christmas craft project! These are fast, fast, fast!

Most of you have seen wreath ornaments made by wrapping yarn around the lids (rings) from canning jars, but I think this yarn gives them a beautiful and unique spin.

Athough it may also be sold in other stores, I know my local Walmart carries this Red Heart Boutique Fur yarn in a color called "Polar."

Furry yarn certainly kicks these ornaments up a notch. You'll need 2 skeins of the yarn and 12 canning jar lids (rings) for 12 ornaments. (Only the rings are needed for this particular project, but the seals can be used for other ornaments.) I also purchased a roll of taupe ribbon that has a little sheen to it.

The process is so easy and fast. You just leave a few extra inches at the beginning and wrap the yarn around the lid.

Continue wrapping until the lid is completely covered and tie the 2 loose ends together. This yarn is so furry that you can't see the knot. (Hint: Since the 2 skeins made 12 wreaths, you could start by dividing each skein into 6 equal pieces. That would make the wrapping process much easier.)

At this point, you could add a bow and a ribbon for hanging. I chose to leave mine very simple so as not to detract from all its furry goodness.

I just looped the taupe ribbon through the wreath for hanging - making a simple knot on top - no bow.

These furry polar wreaths gave our tall Christmas tree in the great room just the oomph it needed

And. . . from a distance, the wreaths resemble snowballs. That's pretty appropriate for where we live!

This is an easy project to do while relaxing in front of the fireplace or watching TV. They could even be used for embellishing your Christmas presents. Or use this yarn to make a beautiful full-size winter wreath. Enjoy!

These are adorable! Just want to cuddle them! My Hubby and I do a lot of canning, and after awhile the lids need to be replaced. I'm always looking for ways to decorate with them, Thank you!

I have recently seen two of your posts, which I just love! I was amazed how your taste so resembles mine. Then I noticed your blog name. I'm from MI too and my parents had a cottage on Lake Medora near Copper Harbor. I went to college at LSSU (ha! It was LSSC when I went there, 70's). My brother lives in Eagle Harbor and all his grown kids & their kids live in Hancock. Small world!
