Rudolph Was Framed!

In case you don't know, Jamie is my husband. You might have seen his arms, legs or ear in photos of other projects I've published. He's the brains of the operation, while I'm the looks. (I'm totally kidding--he's my 'Silver Fox'.) Usually, I tell him what I want to happen and he shows me the way to make it happen. Anyway...I digress. (I'm severely ADHD.) I tell him I'm wanting to turn this deer silhouette into a picture of an actual Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. So the first thing I do is find a frame. I had many to choose from because I can't seem to stay away from them at yard sales or thrift stores. I choose a fairly plain one, as to not distract from the Pièce De Résistance. I decide to paint it Krylon's Cherry Red.

Since I'm painting, I thought, I might as well paint the deer head, too. I chose Rustoleum's Nutmeg Brown for it.

I was going for a slight "Farmhouse" look so my hubby cut some strips of pine. I painted them white and after they dried, I glued the strips to the back of the frame. After that dried, I glued the reindeer head to the front. Here comes the fun part... I search and search, looking for ONE small, round, red bulb. I never could find one. I was so desperate I had even considered getting my kids' Operation game and tearing that sucker's nose out. (Don't judge me...I was desperate.)

Luckily, I came across a strand of 10 multi-color,battery-powered, globe lights at Michael's. I came home and showed Jamie where Rudolph's nose was going to be, so he drilled a hole in the pine; right next to Rudolph's snout. We poked the red light through the hole and THAT, my friends, is how Rudolph was framed.
