Kitchen With Pallet Wall Finally Finished. Orange Oak is Gone!

Our Kitchen was something we had wanted to work on but kept putting off. A leak from the roof damaged a wall so I was able to talk my hubby into doing a pallet wall. I LOVE it but struggled with where to go from there. We stained the oak, added the apron sink and stainless appliances, a backsplash I adore and against all advice a porcelain tile countertop. If I had to do it again, I would swap the tile for concrete…I can always go back. :)

Beautiful! Question for you, my fiancé and I just bought our first home and we have oak cabinets as well. The kitchen is large and very open so would be simple to remodel. What brand/color of stain did you use for your cabinets and did you stain them yourselves? This is definitely something we want to do in the future. Thank you :)

@Ashlee Congrats on your new home! We used General Finishes gel stain in Java. Make sure you remove the cabinet doors and take your time. Clean the cabinets well and aim for thin even coats of the stain. It's been over 2 years and on occasion I have touched up a spot or two without an issue. Best of Luck!

We have the orange oak too and I was worried it would just look cheap if we did this but it looks really nice! Thanks for sharing. Did you sand the cabinets before staining them?

Beautiful! Your wall has started an evolution here...going to do similar treatment to our living room and the colors you used helped us decide on colors. Thank you so much for sharing.
