Modern and Simple Christmas Home Tour

Are feeling overwhelmed by the holidays? I know I am! This year, my family and I are focusing on what really matters... I'm taming down the to-do list (including the holiday decor!) and focusing on time spent together. That doesn't mean that I didn't decorate for Christmas though! Come on over and see my take on a modern and simple home decorated for Christmas!
We start the festivities by driving way out to the country to a Christmas Tree farm. We borrow a tree saw and walk down countless little rows to find the perfect tree. This year, our little man fell in love with this skinny tree. At first sight, it didn't wow me but now that it's in the living room... it's just perfect. We decorated it with candy canes (how simple, right? ), a few handmade ornaments and some balls. The "tree skirt" is actually just a fur blanket that I wrapped around the trunk.
Lights make everything feel special. I draped a garland across the entrance to our living room. You can see it from the eat-in kitchen and it just feels homey!
My kiddo loves to do an advent calendar. Get the tutorial for how I made this simple advent as well as fun and easy things to put in each bag (I don't do toys - I like ideas of things to do!).

The Christmas tree print and the Merry & Bright print are both free printables. I printed them at Staples and popped them in a frame. The whole cost was about $3! I'll roll them up and save them for next year.

Our kitchen was just revealed on my blog (see the kitchen reveal here) and we are so enjoying it. I didn't want to add much but I did add some twinkle lights and mini garland to the shelves. Simple yet cheerful.
Here's another look of how the garland and tree play together.

Just a few simple touches make our house cheerful and perfect for the holidays.

I know I get stressed when the house is cluttered with all this extra decor and stuff. I wanted to share how you can create a space that still feels like Christmas without all that stuff. =)

Although, who knows... maybe next year I will go all out. You never know! =)
