Let Your Guests Be the Star of the Show - DIY Story Placemats

It’s the season for entertaining, so why not make your guests the stars of the show and create some custom placemats that show them just how special they really are. All you need is some empty beer boxes or any thick cardboard, paint (optional), modge and a story. But we'll get to the story in a minute.
Cut the side off the beer boxes and paint the bottom to hide any writing (if you're using cardboard you won't need to paint the back). I found that beer boxes are the perfect size for a placemat and they're free 😉

Hop on the computer and write a news article about your guests, you'll only need about 150 words and a photo or two. The first placemats I made, I wrote a about my kids and tried to highlight there strengths and all the things I love about them. Print your article out and modge it onto the cardboard or beer box.
I put some crackled glaze on after modging the pictures just to add to the old world look I was going for.
Each guest's story is different and it's such a wonderful way to make them feel special.
The placemats are a huge amount of fun to make and your guests can take them with after the party too. It's also a brilliant way to break the ice and get everyone chatting and sharing their stories.
We’ve made some for everyone and had quite a few chuckles making up stories about our guests. My mom’s newspaper story involves a strip club and a python, but I think she’d kill me if I share it here. Let’s just say strip clubs will never be the same again.

What are your plans for making your guests feel like super stars during this festive season? I’d love to "read all about it" 😉

For the full tutorial come say hi on the blog - there even a link to a template for an old style newspaper article so you don't have to worry about formatting anything.
