Crystal Ornaments Made From Vintage Salt Shakers
A simple and sweet way to get some vintage into your Christmas decor. Find old salt-n-pepper shakers at yard sales and thrift shops. Check out my easy DIY for hanging them with a basic wire ornament hanger. Fill them with little beads or fabric swatches for pops of color. Beautiful!
The small ones are light enough to hang on most trees. Aren't they glitzy? And the variety of shakers is endless. To hang, thread the bottom curve of a wire ornament hanger through two of the holes in the lid.
Optional: for a neater look, twist the wire together and trim the tail with wire cutters. You can play with curves in the wire as shown above. Or If you prefer, simply hang with ribbon or string - so easy -takes only a few minutes.
These are the same shakers as in the previous photo, but now they have color inside...
Fill them with light plastic beads, inexpensive Mardi Gras strands or even little fabric swatches to pop the color!
I snap up shakers at yard sales and thrift shops all year - keep your eyes peeled and collect a bunch. Hope you give this a try!
