It was ugly. Bring on the paint-haters because I went to town on this one.

Not exactly a showstopper

I stared at it for days. What to do? What to do? My shelves were filled with colors, finishes and various boxes of crafty items, but I needed some inspiration. I gave myself a little painters rest...And then I woke up.

Off with the doors! And flipped them over for a flat surface. Partnered with my desire to hide that weird scalloped thing at the top.

Striping. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. Here we are.. Frog Tape in abundance. The paint is Simple black and white ...But could I leave it alone?? Noooo. I added Gold Valspar sprinkles into my creamy, dreamy white because... well just because? Here's a shot of the sprinkles in the next photo..

I chose gold!

And here's some finished photos. Those prints on the door were applied with 1gel.

Here's some more finished shots. I used that 1gel to get those fancy dresses on the doors!! It's the best decoupage stuff ever! It's not super sticky like the others- and it gives you plenty of "dry time" to find your perfect world. After the prints dried, I painted my sparkly Paint right on the print! I also painted that black border with the Black paint.

Don't forget these. Black paint is hard to seal. I used Black Staining Gel with our Sponge applicator to seal the black top. My result was a silky smooth jet black top.

It's a lousy photo but I glued Swarovski Crystals onto the dresses for a blinged out, glammy pop. I make up my own words and phrases on a routine basis- but how else would you describe this?

By any chance is this vanity for sale?

Beautiful...I have an old set from my grandmother that is probably around 100 years old now. When you did the stripes did you paint it solid first with one color, black or white, and then do the stripes second? Or did you do the stripes separately?

    Thanks, Patricia

Absolutely beautiful! Where did you get the black dresses or did you paint them on?

Absolutely stunning!!! I have never seen a vanity shaped like this and I shop antique stores regularly. I do not like painted furniture (especially antique furniture) and a lot of projects i have seen turned out badly. However, I am a nut over black and white together in any kind of design. I think you did a very good job on this project. Way to go!
