Front door freezing shut

Hubby took off storm door with the intention of replacing it, however now that winter is upon us, the storm door is still in the garage. We now have issues with the front door sticking due to it freezing shut. We can power our way in from the outside, but it's almost impossible to open from the inside. Any tips until the new storm door can be installed?

Check if any cold air is leaking around the door from the inside. You may need some weatherstripping around the door. Cold air hits the warm air and condensation forms freezing around the door. Spray WD40 or silicone spray around the door jam. to prevent moisture buildup. You may need to reapply when the door starts to stick. Also works on car doors.

If you don't have any WD40 on hand, believe it or not, you an use good old fashioned crisco shortening to tide you over. It will be less expensive and you may have to reapply like the WD40 but it will definitely smell a little better. Hope that this helps!

LOL, obviously if we could have, we would have already done that, it's a little more complicated than that :-)

The heat from the house is going to accumulate on theoutside of the door. hence it freezes shut. Been there, done that, hired a carpenter to come and install door post haste. Husbands should never be hired to do household repairs.

The WD suggestion is good but I would staple plastic film over the threshold because anything the WD strikes will be difficult to get paint to stick to later.
