Custom Georgia Kitchen Designed For A Chef

These homeowners were looking for high-end appointments and features for their new kitchen that would really make a unique statement. The old kitchen was monochromatic and bland. It did not suit owners' who loved to entertain and cook for their guests! The tall center island was also at an awkwardly tall height for the family’s resident chef.
Where the old kitchen desk used to be, an eye-catching combination of rich woods and striking stainless appliances combine to add a brand new cooking station to the kitchen.
The upper cabinets around the dropped ceiling leave space for some desired accessories drawing the eye up to the unusual architectural features of the room.
The ovens were relocated to the side of the kitchen as they were a lesser used appliance. With multiple cooking stations two chefs can now work in the kitchen at the same time while guests enjoy a glass of wine seated at the island.
The height of the island was lowered and customized for the homeowner’s stature. An exotic tiger wood top was added to wow those guests with even the most refined tastes.
A vent hood was added to the kitchen and placed on an interior wall.
Ductwork for the new vent was run behind the cabinetry soffit added above the upper cabinets.
A pot filler was added over the built-in gas cook top. This attention grabbing feature remedied the problem of moving the cooktop further away from the sink. Warming drawers and an ice maker were also built into the center island so every need was easily accessible from each cooking station.
A custom desk was added that could also double as a buffet. The space was previously a butler’s pantry with little obscured storage space.
A faux cabinet front was created to fill the desk’s knee space when the homeowners wanted to use the area for serving.
Exotic Brazilian granite is a centerpiece of the new kitchen. A neutral tumbled travertine stone in crema was used for the backsplash to continue the use of natural materials but also not to draw the focus away from the countertop.
Dramatic glass pendant lights which compliment the bold colors of the granite were added over the sink.

Such a beautiful kitchen for the person who loves to cook. Unlike Wanda Reavis I think this is a practical kitchen but much bigger than most of us have. I love the wood counter on the island but I might have used black cabinets instead on only the island.

@Peggy I thought the island would have looked better in a contrasting color from the other cabinets too. It would have made the exotic wood countertops stand out more.

Great job, I really love wood and I like how the tops of the cabinets were topped off, plus the center island.
