Would love some advice!

Just remember Plaster of Paris is toxic to inhale while mixing and when sanding. Please be safe while mixing. Also it doesn't really save you any money to make your own. Latex paints typically covers around 97 sq ft vs. a real Chalk paint (not latex) covers 150 to 195 sq ft. :) Also latex paints usually require priming or sanding on most surfaces. Good luck.

I make my own all the time. I use: 1 cup of latex paint (whatever color you want to use), 1 Tablespoon of Plaster of Paris, and 1/4 cup of hot water. Mix together and have fun painting.

You can buy premade chalk paint or make your own there are two ways to make your own one is my using a kit like http://bbfrosch.com/ or you can also add plaster of Paris to paint. There are a few other ways.

  For sure, I had to get really sick to learn the toxins aren't worth it. Is Amy Howard zero voc? Are they around $30.00 a quart still? Curious.
