Repurposed Powdered Coffee Creamer Container Holiday Window Decoration

Christmas is almost here and we have some snow this year, in a good share of the country anyway. So I thought this lite coffee creamer containers post would be an interesting and easy project , for those looking to do something with the empty containers they have. The finished decorations would go nicely on the window sill. Or if you have a few , they could be placed along the walkway.
The idea for the project came to me several months back after a lady commented on a post that bottles she had just purchased were white and not clear like those in the post. The visitor to the post was not sure her containers would work .
The bottles in the other post were clear, yet I am sure that once it was realized that the white bottles simply required labels everything worked out.
For this Holiday themed project, I used three powdered coffee creamer containers. The labels were removed and the insides rinsed out.
Next because one of the places the lighted bottles could be used is along the walkway, weight was needed for the bottom, to keep them upright in adverse weather. I portioned out sand and a few small stones. Adding some to each container.
Next, I cut a piece of ribbon and taped it to the tea light. This would allow me to place the light inside the container as well as lift it out to turn the light on or off. For a walkway display, a small string of lights that could be turned on and off would work better. Or some individual solar lights could be utilized.
I thought some silhouette decorations would enhance things. But the tea lights just don't have enough oomph ( lumens). This photo was taken inside.
I borrowed one of the solar lights from the sidewalk and you can see what a difference it made.
Since the containers would be visible during the daylight hours as well I added some simple decoration to the containers. Having a few foam stick on characters left they were placed on the containers. Then I painted garnished Christmas trees beside each one. And a little something around the top.
I have only set these up in a window so far. So extra protection for the paint is not needed. For outdoors I would coat the paint first with clear acrylic gloss, then once that dried a coat or two of Rustoleum clear gloss. I would also apply the foam pieces using clear silicone adhesive or water resistant glue.
I placed a couple short pieces of 2 by 4 under the decorations to raise them up above the window frame, then went outside and took pictures.
I took this picture 12-13-16 to provide a clearer look at the containers in full light.
