Inflatable costume suit

I have committed to making a costume for Violet Beauregard from Willy Wonka.
During the play, the character expands a lot. The only way this can be done (action
takes place on stage) is for there to be an inflatable suit underneath. Has anyone ever worked with one of these? Can they be altered? Do you think the fan is strong enough to inflate a costume over it? The role hasn't been cast yet and the
budget is quite Limited. Don't want to waste money ordering an extra suit to play with. I'm thinking 2 costumes that match closely is my best bet. Any thoughts
greatly appreciated.
