Making Zinc Letters & Numbers For The Holidays

These zinc-like letters and numbers are a super quick and easy project for the holidays. And they have that industrial look that is so popular right now! I made the numbers 2 and 5 to represent December 25th, but you could also do a word - JOY, PEACE, NOEL, SNOW, etc.

Materials Needed:
Cardboard numbers - I bought them at Hobby Lobby ($2.49 ea)
Small paintbrush with bristles
Craft paint in dark black - I used Americana brand's Lamp Black
Craft paint in gray - I used Americana brand's Zinc
Craft paint in metallic silver - I used DecorArt brand's Dazzling Metallics in Shimmering Silver

You will need cardboard numbers found at craft stores (Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's etc) and crafts paints.
Start out painting the numbers with dark black and let that dry to the touch. Coat the entire number on the front and sides.
Dry brush the gray color on in very random places and let that dry to the touch.
Finish it off by dry brushing the shiny silvery color as the top layer. Do not cover it 100% with the silver though, you want some of the gray and black to show through.
My two numbers took about about ten minutes, not counting the time it took to dry.
