I made this for my husband's man cave about 5 years ago. I was going to buy one online, but to purchase a 4 feet long shelf with changing color lights was costing me more than 1800 dollars. So I decided to build one. It took me a week to build this (few hours everyday after work) I only have a pictures of the finish product. But I found a YouTube video today, that might help. You need a little bit of carpentry skills to do this. I bought the plexi glass for the top of the shelf at a glass cutting place. it cost me about 35 dollars for 3 long strips for the top. I used wood glue to attach the plexi glass to the wood, but I had to reinforce with a piece of wood in the middle for stability so it wont bend or break when you place too much weight (you can see the piece of wood through the glass . Sorry I didnt think of taking pictures at the time. I thought it will be nice project for your basement or bar. Please review the you tube video I found (the youtube video was made by someone else) Here is the youtube I found.
The cost was less that $120 dollars.

The light strip I bought from Amazon is a peel and stick, Its still working fine. I use the light all the time. You can change the color with the remote control .

Make sure you buy a transformer with it. Some strips comes with the transformer, otherwise you have to buy them separately .
I stained mine with cherry color to match the rest of the bar.
If plexi is expensive or cant get it, you can use regular glass and have them cut it for you at a glass cutting place and use Rust-Oleum

Frosted Glass Spray Paint over the glass.
