No Sew Rustic Glam Faux Fur and Gold Tree Skirt

I needed a bigger tree skirt for our new 9 foot Christmas tree. Our old tree skirt was too small for the new larger proportions. I went looking for a 60 inch faux fur tree skirt and was frustrated with the high cost of every skirt I found. I really didn't want to spend $200 for one! So I decided to make my own.

There are lots of tutorials out there for no sew faux fur tree skirts. It's really a very easy project! But I wanted to take it up a notch.

I bought two yards of faux fur on amazon for $18 a yard. and a 10 yard spool of gold ribbon (I bought two, but only ended up needing 1) (affiliate links for your convenience)

Following the other tutorials to make a tree skirt I squared off my fabric. Fold it in half, and in half again, and again. Tie a string to a marker. Hold one end of the string in the corner of your folded fabric, and line the marker up on the edges. Pull the marker across the fabric in an arc to make your circle.

Cut through all the layers of the fur and discard the scraps (or save them for another project later!) Cutting faux fur is messy! Slide the scissors under the fur when you can, rather than cutting it. It's still messy haha. I kept a vacuum nearby.

Cut a smaller circle at the folded corner center for the base of your tree.

Cut a straight line from the small inner circle to the outer edge.

You can stop there and have a beautiful no sew faux fur tree skirt. I wanted to take it just a step further though and turn rustic into rustic glam! Using hot glue, I attached my gold 2.5 inch ribbon to the edge of the skirt.

I started at the edge near my straight cut, and glued the ribbon all the way around the edge of the skirt. Glue the right side of the ribbon to the under side of the faux fur. The hot glue fused everything together perfectly. A 10 yard spool of ribbon had just enough to go around the 60 inch skirt completely.
