I would take off all hardware, connect them to make a folding room screen/divider.

  • Shira Shira on Dec 27, 2016

I was also thinking a divider but you can also make them in to a coffee table.

Attach them with hinges along one side then stand them in a corner at right angle to one another. Add 2 or 3 cut-to-fit shelves for a nice corner shelf unit. Paint to compliment your home's color scheme.

You could even make a 3-sided shelf unit with the set of three in the bottom picture.

We had the smaller shutters (painted white) and my husband hung them on our back deck to give us additional privacy. As they age, they look even better!

Are these not French Doors, my Mom has these thru out her 100 year old home in Florida. She told my Husband to take them down before the house was sold after her death. She said they were worth a lot of money because of their age. They have glass knobs. I'll hang them up in my home, for her.

Hang on wall as picture frames. Or sandwich together with collectibles in between each set of panes, , add legs and make a coffee table. If you want a flatter top add another piece of think glass to cover the whole thing.

I love old shutters and glass windows! I would hang them, like a piece of art.

The first set, I would use as a room divider or in a corner of a room to display photos. To use as a room divider, attach a small curtain to cover each window.

The second set, I would put a mirror on the back of each window and hang as a group with a little space in between each window. Or again use as picture frames. You can open the window part to change the pictures as you see fit.

The third set has more versatility. **They could be used as a headboard. **If the slats are open - you could cut them down and use them in a window as a ventilator. **Paint one in a festive style and use it to display Christmas cards. **Drill holes in each corner, knot a piece of rope through each corner and hang it on a bathroom wall to make a shelf.

Yes! You can send them to me, please! LOL

All of the above ideas are great, you are lucky to have such great finds! I would put something behind them(lace curtains, painted designs, etc) and use them for wall art. Post pics of what you finally use them for!

Sell them but they are beautiful. I respect that you don't care for them so sell them why put money into something that you don't like unless you bought them because you do love them, hard to tell from your statement. If you love them I would make a screen with the 3 that are gorgeous. I would not put glass outside but a beautiful screen that you can see through can be used in a bedroom to separate room up or just because you love it. With the shutters those I would paint and put outside as a place for vine to grow on.

Keep it and you can make the wall of your entryway or any wall for that matter, a beautiful memo/picture board. I used the small shutters with the slats... I had a small shutter that I bought from a second hand store (cheap!), so I made a simple memo board with those little clothes pins (painted and embellished) to hold pictures and post-it notes... If you google "Memo Boards made of Shutters", you'll find Martha Stewart's blog and instructions to do it! So easy ~ and you'll have fun making it!
