I soak some things in hydrogen peroxide and water overnight. Vinegar works for some items too. Trial and error.

I use hydrogen peroxide along with laundry detergent in my washer for my whites. Bleach tends to make them dingy, yellow, and will damage the fabric over time.

About 4 oz. for a large load. A lot of the oxygen based detergents have a peroxide base in them. Like OxyClean, Many name brands are adding peroxide to their detergents and charge a premium price. So I added my own with regular detergent and my whites came out real white.

Thank you all for your replies. I tried the aspirin with water. I may need to do this a few more times, but I can see results. I also mixed the aspirin with lemon juice, that works well also.

In every load of laundry we add vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in the washing machine. It works very well and does not add any harsh chemicals or smells to the clothes. We like to stay as natural as possible.

I always use vinegar and either Borax or baking soda along with a reduced amount of detergent and non-chlorine bleach. When would I use peroxide? Wash cycle? Rinse? Only for whites?
