How can I tie dye wood for a small project?

I have, and it's really cool and since it is liquid I could use small amounts (rather than mixing up a large batch) for small projects. But it ain't cheap and I haven't been ready to make the investment yet.

You can use craft paint by Tulip for the dying which is less expensive.

For the 'tie-dye' effect you need to have a 'bleed' of the colors, so if you saturate the wood first, the color will spread more. Maybe try to wet the wood, then use a tiny drops of dilluted food coloring.

How do I start the tie die with blue black gray white for atoy box

I have a wood sign that I made for my daughter and I carved out the words ( welcome to our home ) on one end of the board and in the middle carved out a peaceful sign and at the other end the words ( Wild hearts peace and love Live Here and I want to do a tie dye look with acrylic paint but I only want the color in the carved out sections.how would I go about doing this please give me some suggestions
