A pendant light made from human x-rays! And Ikea hack with an attitude.

My youngest son just received his EMT certification, so I wanted to make him something special for his condo. Why not a light fixture made with x-rays? First, I bought a KNAPPA light kit from Ikea for $24.99.

I then used the white petals included in the kit as a template to cut 40 new petals from the x-rays I had collected (you can read more about this endeavor on my blog.)

I then snapped them into place, according to the kit instructions. And here’s the finished project! I admit, it conveys a slightly different ambience from the white tulip lamp in the kit, but I think its Darth Vader-esque quality is perfect for a bachelor pad!

Wow, my son is a chiropractor and he must have a gazillion of these things. I would love to make one for him for his office. Do you recall how many x-rays you needed.
