Your guests will think you spent thousands on this wall treatment. And that would be perfectly fine with me. :)
Are you thinking about freshening up a boring mundane space. Consider this inexpensive wainscoting solution. What is wainscoting you ask? Well it's wooden paneling that lines the lower part of the Toolbox Divas - how to install picture frame moulding wainscoting walls of a rooms like in the dining room, bathroom, hallway or along a staircase. It's a super easy way to add depth and character to a space.
However, it can easily run a person any where from $1,200 to $3,900 to purchase the materials and have it installed. BUT I'm going to show you how to achieve this look for under $200.
My dining room before it all began. Haha it was dated with this trading spaces sponge treatment.
1st outline the wall for the upper trim placement using a 1x3.
next I outlined the edges using a 1x4 for spacing the picture frames. This will enable me to determine the proper size of my frames. While the height for each frame was the same the width differed from wall to wall. The spacing remained consistent as well.
I applied the upper trim piece.
Make each frame using a picture frame jig i made using scrap wood.
once constructed I attached each frame to the wall using construction adhesive and a brad nailer.
Once installed and level I applied wood filler to the nail holes, allowed it to dry and sanded it down.
Finally I applied caulking where the frame met the wall. Once the caulk was dry I painted it using a semi gloss paint.
I really like how it turned out. The entire feeling of the room has changed. It has drama and character.
