Also, with paper towel rolls, I like to save them for my kids to do art projects - but maybe I'll be saving some for myself

This is a really great idea if you are moving. cords always get in the way, so when moving, wrap cords inside the rolls, no more tripping on cords.

I cover mine with duct tape to make them more durable and longer lasting

The t-tissue (or paper towel tubes if needed for the length) work great for ribbon or yarn pieces and bits of string or those wire tie twists or rubber bands or sewing items such as elastic or bias binding or lace. Just cut a pair of pieces from the cleaner pieces of used clear plastic sandwich bags or potato bag or veggie bag from the store and use cheap clear tape (that's a lots cheaper than duct tape) to hold the clear plastic in place to close the ends so you can hold the items inside the tube and yet easily see what colors and types of items are stored.

Prefer the larger wide mouth party peanut jars for smaller/shorter electric cords. Prefer to use some old plastic plumbing pipe -- cut longer than t-tissue roll for longer extension cords. I don't care to risk crunching the cords to fit them in the smaller tubes and end up putting a bend in the actual copper wire beneath the plastic cover.

Good idea. Keeps them in one place and you could label the length on the outside.

i use paper towel rolls as the are heaver and can be cut to use on several different wires.
