Top Furniture Makeovers of 2016

I'm sharing my top 5 furniture makeovers I completed in 2016. It was a busy year for me accomplishing and doing many things outside of refinishing and painting furniture, but I still completed some great makeovers in my limited free time.
First is a set of mid century nightstands that were super bland in their original state. New satin paint and stain make a huge difference in how this set turned out and totally enhanced the original design. See more photos on my blog here.
Second is a faux bamboo dresser I painted using an oil-based paint (something I experimented with in 2016). The fresh navy color helps make the brass hardware pop and is much better that the yellow finish that had seen years of wear. Learn how I paint here.
Third are these vintage nightstands which in their original state were not the style I was after. A color block paint job with orange and a soft grey gave them a more current look without taking away from their vintage charm. They now have a very unique look!
Fourth is this mid century table that you might not believe is mostly laminate and plastic. I picked a bolder color that I custom mixed specifically for this piece. It helped to hide the faux wood parts that made the table feel outdated.
Lastly we have one of my favorites. It's a high gloss lacquered dresser with original stained wood drawers. I love the mid century lines of this piece and the warn grey paint color pairs perfectly with the wood tones. Click the link below to read more about each of these makeovers.

What paint did you use that adhered to the laminate? I'm looking for a way to paint an older laminate desk top that will be durable.
