Upcycling Wine Corks: How to Make Stamps

Here’s something you could easily craft when you need a present for a child: wine cork stamps.
You can also use them yourself when preparing gifts, as these stamps will give your wrapping paper a personal touch.
Let’s draw a star! Place one point in the center of the cork, and another five points on the circle, distributed evenly. Another smaller points come between those five, closer to the center, then draw a line from one big point to a smaller one till you get the contour of the star.
Press the cutter on each side of the star in order to make a cut 2-3 millimeters deep, then cut small slices from outside to inside, between these cuts, so you would finally have a star left.

Use the same technique to make trees, comets, hearts, letters or anything else you like.
Use a small brush to put the paint on the stamp for the first time. This is how you will see how the paint looks on cork and how easy will be transferred on paper.

Press the painted cork on the paper without moving it otherwise the final print will look anything but neat. Avoid putting too much paint on the cork or your image will look bulky.
Your wrapping paper will look awesome if printed with these stamps. If you decide to git them instead, add a box of paint and paper so the kid would have all the materials to try these stamps on.

I was just wondering this evening what I could do with a few leftover corks, and then I stumbled across your idea! Thanks for posting this!

What a creative way of using corks. These would make a great gift for children. The cork is long enough to keep their fingers clean while dabbing on an ink pad to stamp their own ideas for making cards, pictures, etc. These are totally awesome.
