Could you tape it in place with electrical tape and also make sure the spring part is strong enough to hold. Love the clock!
Make sure the spring compresses when you install the battery. The positive tang may not holding the battery and its slipping out. VERY carefully stretch the spring and it should push the battery against the positive tang. Also make sure that the spring is straight. Otherwise use some tape to hold the battery in.
if you can't tighten spring take a small pice of foil and fold it to fit the other side of battery pudh battery back in and see if that keeps it in place the foil will conduct the signal so it should work the battery and keep it in place
You can purchase the clock workings at any craft store or online at amazon, walmart, kmart. Might e better option than having it work and tgen not, been there done that.
use painters tape to hold the battery in placeShare your thoughts!
Electrical tape would work or your standard go to tape;Duct!
Great clock... Wish I could find one like it!
Put duck tape on the back
Sometimes you can just re-bend the spring and the tang for a tight fit. Tape also works, but duct tape might make removal a tad difficult, lol. Electrical or painters tape should be strong enough. I also agree with Pattie Pascale Craig about replacing the whole works, it's very simple to do, and won't cost much either. A lot of times it is just a loose battery! A pair of needle nose pliers, a small straight screw driver (to bend the tang out), and about 1 minute is all you need.
oh, btw, if the contact on the tang is very corroded (maybe from an old leaking battery), you can clean it with an eraser, or if it's bad, use a small piece of very fine sandpaper (wrapped around your flat screwdriver), to gently clean the contact. When it shines, it's clean! This works for almost any contact surface!
A nailfile is a good piece of sandpaper for tiny spots like the battery bed.
Duct tape and simply re-place whenever new battery needed.
I'd probably wedge the battery in with some Fun Tack, or Simply Tacky. It's very easy to manipulate and won't leave any residue or be too permanent (like duct tape). I use the stuff for tons of things around the house!
Take it to the local craft store. Hobby Lobby, Michael's etc. You can by the clock works for about $8
Michaels has the battery boxes, you can buy a replacement one and rewire it on to the clock.
Hillila, you could try folding a small piece of aluminum foil down to size of flat end of battery and wedging it in as you insert the battery . Fold foil until as thick as you might need. Not sure it would work, but worth a try.
