How To Whitewash A Farmhouse Table In 30 Minutes

Easy
We built our farmhouse table years ago and the finish yellowed. I decided to try whitewashing it and the entire room is freshened up. It honestly took me less than 1/2 hour to do for a whole new look!
This is the table when we first built it in our garage. It had yellowed and had water rings...yuck! I took some regular water based paint that I had in the garage and gathered some simple supplies.
All it took was the paint, a paintbrush and a rag. I poured some paint into a large used yogurt container and thinned it out. Then I just brushed it on going in the direction of the wood grain and wiped it down.

The paint that I used was from Rustoleum and linked in my blog post. When I thinned it out and wiped it down, the lovely grain of the wood still showed.
The beauty of whitewashing is that you can allow as much of the original finish or as little to show through. I did not wax this table and it does seem to not need any and the finish is adhering with perfection!
