What can I do with scrap cloth fabric?

i like to bundle them up in the bottom of my fake flower vases or put them around the bottom of my plants. i change the scrap fabric according to the seasons. I also save them for the holidays: i cut my scrap fabric into squares and put sugar free hard candy in them-tie the top with a bow. It makes a cute little gift for those drop in visitors and for holiday parties.

Take some of your long thin scraps and twist two ends together and keep twisting, be firm in the twisting. Wrap around comes or card, then use to knit, sew, crochet or glue onto items, see what I made below.

Maybe you like to sew, if you have fabric scraps? I go to thrift stores and buy zippers. Then I make cosmetic bags. I end up with tons of them, and know that I will never use them. So I have a basket of them, and offer anyone who comes over to help themselves. I use them instead of gift wrap. If there are too many around, I give them to the thrift store.

Alternatively, you can make potholders, placemats, seasonal wall hangings, table runners, pillow covers. Patchwork or whole pieces, depending on the size you have.

If you sew you can make dolls, teddy bears, etc. and donate to local police/sheriff departments. They give them to children who have been in accidents or other stressful situations. They do not have to be made from one piece of fabric, a crazy quilt like teddy bear makes each special. Or make eye glass holders for hospitals to give to their patients. Put a loop with a button, or such, so they can be attached to the hospital railings for ease of access.

If you do jewelry or not. Buy cocktail straws , cut into 1-2"lengthens cut fabric same width. my lengths about 6-8"s put drop glue across straw roll eat and tight. Glue end rub glue over whole bead. Get string or leather 60" need 2 tie a knot 3"s down pieces together put on fabric bead. Tie knot with both stongs add next bead tie end at3"s from end. Oh can or can not. leave straw. Use differan color fabrics for beads can cover with mod podge stick on tooth picks stuck in styrofoam. Dry 1day

Can you show finished jewellery. Great idea to use scraps, would fabric stick to cocktail stick.

I grow and dry catnip all summer. I then use my scrap fabric with added ribbons to make cat toys. I stuff them with other small pieces of fabric or fleece edging scraps and add the dried catnip. The Grand Kitties Love them.

I use fabric pieces to make small pillows and matching or coordinating rice bags (that can be heated in the microwave). I've given many, many away and they are a great hit. People love the little pillow to put behind their head or back and the heated rice bag (with instructions to heat 1 minute in the microwave) can be used on sore muscles, to warm cold hands or slip under the covers before getting into a cold bed. The elderly are always so cold and hurting and love them. You can put one piece of fabric on one side and a different one on the other.

If you like to crochet you can use strips to make seat cushions. They really turn out pretty. Use your imagination as to pattern.
