Pale or light blue? The guest room has an oak trim.

I love a light blue room, but don't limit yourself- you can do shades of blue. Even incorporate some navy in there

I love this room. Whom ever it belongs too is really great at balancing warm and cold. This is cozy even though a lot of navy scattered throughout and grey wood floor with creamy french vanilla and silver thrown in. It's a dream . Thanks for posting this photo.

Paint is very personal. To help you decide on your color choice base your decision on the lighting in the room, color of the furniture and bedding accessories. My opinion do not limit being able to change out the room and choosing different bedding for different seasons. Color can be added with accessories not necessary the walls.

I agree with Hillela and Janet! A light blue paint with a mixture of different shades of blue for accessories. Love the photo Hillela provided.

the picture is nice. I like it and don't even like blues! but I wouldn't want it in my personal bed room.

but... I did have a blue bedroom in one of our homes early on and got tired of it pretty quick. tried it in a guest room in a dif home and though it looked really pretty w the mix of things in there. it was not very cozy. thought it might just be me. so I decided to do a survey. I asked guests who stayed. I told them to be honest. they said they didn't think blue was all that restful, but wouldn't mind blue in accents...

have never had another blue room. but did use a gray blue (seaside blue) very muted in my guest room on the lower part of one wall. so far I like it. mostly because it is not very bold or bright.

blue is a tricky color. you either love it or not.

    good luck!

We just got a new home, and I'm planning on painting our master bedroom robin's egg blue. It's such a happy color and as suggested by someone else, I can use different accessories to change with the seasons if we want.

You can find over a hundred shades of blue, ranging from navy, to grey blue, to baby blue and peacock/aqua/teal! It is a personal choice and depends also on if you want the room to feel cool, warm, neutral, cottage/urban chic/beach/country, etc... So ask yourself these questions before choosing paint colours.

Also, and for me this is very important, find an item or two that you love and want in that room. It usually ends up being a cushion, rug or fabric of some sort for me that I absolutely love. It can be a picture or painting, or lamp or candlesticks. Pick your blue choices that either match or contrast this item or items you like. It might take some time, but it's worth taking the time before applying paint. Good luck and please keep us posted!
