Since the day we moved into our house about 5 years ago, I've wanted to paint the brick wall in our living room. My husband however did not. In fact, it is the one thing in the house I am not allowed to touch.
It just screamed 70's brick black hole to me, and so I've come up with ways to hide it as much as possible - paint the mantle white, add white shutters, add a brass fire screen, etc. Anything to bounce light around the living room. But ultimately I had to make the grout light.
My full blog post has a video of this grout painting process. Ultimately bricks can be different colors, old, new, whitewashed, but the real difference is in the grout. So I convinced my husband to let me paint just the grout.
The process was tedious but look at what a difference a little paint makes! Now, if I had it my way, I would also whitewash the bricks, but we are working with compromise here, so I'll take it!
What a difference it makes on that wall and my living space! Sign up for my blog newsletter to get painting tips and decorating advice.
