Repurposed Canoe Paddle Coat Rack

This old paddle / oar was damaged and in need of a transformation before it gave everyone a splinter. So with a little TLC and repurposing magic, I ended up with a wonderful (and functional) new piece of cabin-style decor!
Find out my secret trick to wood restoration HERE!
See what I mean? It was literally a splinter waiting to happen! I needed to give it some good, old-fashioned TLC in my workshop before doing anything else.
So, I revived that old wood until it was buttery smooth... Click HERE to find out how I did it!
To give it just a hint of color, I carefully stenciled on some simple blue and white stripes.
After the paint stripes dried, I gave it a couple of coats of sealant to protect all of my hard work. To finish it up, I added hangers to the back so we could mount it on the wall. To the front, I added four vintage-style coat hooks.
The big reveal! This is the first project that I've made for our family's new mountain cabin- and it'll be perfect for hanging flannels, fishing gear, and all things river-life. If you like cabin and mountain lodge-style decor, I'll be posting more projects like this throughout the year.
