Wanting to make a banner for Christmas, I went through my stash of goodies that began with brown file folders. I was tempted to paint them and was not sure about the brown, but now that they are done, I think they really look vintage.
When I first saw these old file folders at a church bazaar, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to use them for but I am so glad that I got them because they are super thick and they were super cheap!
Old brown file folders and a striped pillowcase were some of the main materials that went into making this vintage looking Christmas banner. Add some cupcake liners, some scrapbook paper, doilies, rick rack, bells, lace, felt and you have the makings of a Christmas banner.
I used folded book pages turned into rosettes to give some depth and interest to the banner. And the letters were an ornament from the dollars store that I simply used an exacto knife to separate.
And here it is all finished. For a full tutorial you can go here http://www.patinaparadise.com/2013/12/something-old-something-new-christmas_75.html
