My $300 DIY Floor Makeover

$300
Medium
I'm knee deep in a 1964 Ranch remodel that was owned by my grandparents. The main bathroom needed a complete floor overhaul-- and I had $0 to hire it done. So, I saved hundreds in labor costs by doing it all by myself! For $300, I was able to remove the existing floor & install a beautiful new floor!
**I buy old, ugly, neglected houses and flip them all by myself! It's a crazy, DIY house-flipping life, so come follow along at my blog The Bachelorette Pad Flip (www.bachelorettepadflip.com)
The main bath needed some freshening up and updating, but my goal was to maintain the midcentury integrity of the space.
I started by removing all the tile! I posted a tutorial on my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip.
My next step was adding a cement backer layer to lay the tile on. If you're good at putting puzzles together, this step was a lot like that. It was a fairly easy and quick process! I also posted a tutorial of VLOG on my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip.
Before I got to tiling, I had to secure the cement backer board and seal the joints. This was a very easy process! I posted this in a separate tutorial on my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip.
Then came the fun part! Using some vintage-inspired tile, I started by cutting and gluing the tile. I posted tips for cutting and gluing tile on my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip.
The final step was adding the grout! Choosing a gray grout helped to add to the historic charm I was going for in this space.
After the grout set, I had a beautiful budget-friendly new floor! By not hiring out this project, I saved money and accomplished yet another thing by myself!

Just some info for your next bathroom flip... If you want to save even more $ money $ .. Go to flooring stores & ask if they have any leftovers. Then ask if you can have & at what price. My daughter went someplace to get leftover carpet to make a cat scratch post. The man there gave it to her FREE. Now we have a cat-scratching post that, in the store cost about $100, my daughter made at no charge.
